Hereby I would like to inform the reader that Campbell Refractories has been part of the Boiler outages at Sasol Secunda for over 10 years. Campbell got involved in a time when there was scope of work growth which included the refractory on the Boilers. Refractory was redesigned, tested and inspected over several years before a final product and application method was approved. All this was done with the technical input from Campbell Refractories. These guys are well experienced and disciplined in their trade. We experienced very little damage on Steam and Mud drums as well as tubes due to the jackhammer removal of refractory.
Sasol Refractories Policy:
A few years ago a central refractory hub was formed to standardise refractory in the factory. This lead to Campbell loosing the Boiler contract early last year because one company was brought in to do all refractory on the whole plant. This company is not experienced on the Boilers and several deviations were experienced. This forced us from maintenance to demand that Campbell Refractories be brought back onto our Boilers from the start of March this year.
I have a very high regard for the way in which Campbell Refractory do business.
RHI Refractories was a contractor at the SASOL Secunda site and was responsible for all the refractory maintenance on the SASOL Secunda site for a period of 7 years. RHI did make use of Campbell Refractories on a monthly basis to assist with above mentioned maintenance contract. Campbell Refractories is a well established and a reputable refractory company within the refractory industry. They also achieved a very good safety record and a well maintained total quality management system.
